What better way to learn to facilitate the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method workshops virtually than to learn in a virtual environment? The virtual landscape continues to develop rapidly, so facilitators need to expand their skills to awaken the imagination and engage all participants in online meetings and workshops.
The LSP method offers guided creativity using a hand-mind connection to generate ideas, thus improving creative thinking and communication individually as well as in teams.
Participants will develop the necessary skills to elicit conversation, guide information sharing, and foster reflection in a virtual environment using the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method.
LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® is an expressive technique that can be used for both personal and business challenges. LSP uses metaphors and storytelling to build 3D models from Lego® bricks to discover and analyze connections between people and the world around them, thus utilizing double construction of sense-making (making sense of complex situations) and meaning-making (interpreting situations or events in light of our previous knowledge or experience). Participants learn while they construct LEGO® models that enable constructive reflection and dialogue processes.
The average training investment in the U.S. varies between $2800 - $4500 plus travel and accommodations. I typically do not offer individual discounts and let me tell you why? You will acquire marketable skills, strategies, and knowledge from my LSP facilitation training and additional supports that aligns you with the potential to recoup your self-investment by facilitating LSP workshops or advance your organization's functioning. Training cost includes materials, food and beverages, and access to the LSP Method facilitator circle, which includes FREE resources and events to help you along your LSP facilitator journey. Additionally, after completing the LSP foundation training you will receive a 1-hour coaching call to help with the preparation of your first LSP facilitator workshop. Organizations interested in having six or more employees trained in the LSP method may send inquiries to althea@brickmagic.net for reduced rate details.
Unfortunately, due to contractual agreements with meeting spaces, I do not offer refunds unless the training is canceled. Training is canceled if there are fewer than three people registered. We offer a courtesy one-time transfer for another training date. Your registration can be transferred to another training date within one year of your intial registration if the request is received at least 10 business days prior to the start of training. Consideration will be given on an individual basis for transfer requests outside of 10 business days.
Originally SERIOUS PLAY® was created back in 1996 by Johan Roos and Bart Victor, who were professors of leadership and strategy at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland. They developed this methodology to help formulate the new direction for the LEGO Company. LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® went through several iterations from 1998 to 2010 and has been successfully used by businesses around the world. Robert Rasmussen and Per Kristiansen at the LEGO Group and Johan Roos at the Imagination Lab are the key figures in developing and enhancing the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method.
In 2010 the LEGO Group made the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method open source releasing it to the wider world. This community model resuled in rapid growth in the number of people using the method and its variety of applications.
Worth is subjective, however, the LSP facilitator certification training is offered by highly experienced facilitators who are trainers in the LSP community. It is strongly suggested by the LEGO Group that you get training from one of the training providers to acquire the necessary skills if you plan to facilitate LSP workshops. You can start by reading books but being trained by an experienced LSP trainer offers an unmatched level of skills and knowledge learning.
LEGO® Serious Play® has been popular in the UK for many years and is gaining ground in the U.S. Some trainers of the LSP method offer innovative certification programs while others are more rigid or uniform with very little flexibility to authentically be you as an LSP facilitator. My best suggestion is to have some idea about what you want to use the LSP facilitator skills for. Then reach out to the trainer to inquire about their certification program to see if it is a good fit to meet your needs.
